Private Alaska Brown Bear and Nature Expedition by Van

Discover the untamed beauty of Alaska with a wildlife adventure on Chichagof Island, where dense rainforests and rugged wilderness promise an unforgettable experience. Known for its incredible biodiversity and the highest concentration of bears on Earth, this tour offers a thrilling chance to encounter Alaska's iconic wildlife in their natural habitat.

Chichagof Island, or Shee Kaax, is a vast expanse of pristine wilderness in the heart of the Alexander Archipelago. Spanning over 2,000 square miles, this island is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The small town of Hoonah, located on the island's northern edge, is your gateway to exploring this untouched landscape. With only 750 year-round residents, the majority of the island remains a sanctuary for brown bears, Sitka black-tail deer, bald eagles, and an array of other fascinating species.

As you journey through the Tongass National Forest, your expert guide will lead you to prime spots for wildlife viewing. Depending on the time of year, you may witness bears emerging from hibernation in spring, feeding on lush tidal grasses in early summer, or chasing salmon in the streams during their peak migration. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, your guide's deep knowledge of the terrain greatly increases the odds of spotting these magnificent creatures.

This tour is offered exclusively between May and September, the optimal months for wildlife activity. Each season brings a unique perspective of the bears' behavior, from mating rituals and territorial disputes in June to the exciting salmon feasts of late summer. The ever-changing landscape of Chichagof Island ensures that every visit feels like a new discovery.

The port of Icy Strait is the perfect starting point for this immersive adventure. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty and authentic Alaskan charm, it's a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts. From the moment you depart the port's excursion hub, you'll be surrounded by the raw beauty of Alaska, with plenty of opportunities to capture unforgettable moments.

Join us on this extraordinary journey to the heart of Alaska's wilderness. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a first-time visitor, this bear and wildlife search promises an experience like no other. Reserve your spot today and let the wild spirit of Chichagof Island leave you inspired.
